Benesis Corporation was established in October 2002 to ensure better accountability and management of the plasma products business with greater emphasis on product safety.
Our plasma preparations are indispensable to modern medical treatment because of their importance in supplementing necessary proteins to alleviate symptoms and improve the quality of everyday life in patients who suffer from serious diseases mainly due to the deficiency of certain proteins in the body.
Because human plasma is used as the source material, a stricter management system is required for plasma products than for other pharmaceutical products in addition to adequate safety measures against infectious pathogens.
Today, the plasma derivatives business in Japan is strictly monitored under the framework of “The Law on Securing a Stable Supply of Safe Blood Products and the Revised Pharmaceutical Affairs Law (Blood Law)”, issued in 2002.
In accordance with the Basic principles of the Blood Law, we are actively committed to achieve the following goals:
- To improve the safety of blood products
- To secure the stable supply of blood products through the domestic non-paid blood donations
- To promote the appropriate use of blood products
- To ensure fairness and improve transparency in managing the blood program
As a manufacturer and distributor of blood products, we will also continue to bear the responsibility for assuring stable and appropriate supply of safe blood products, developing techniques to improve the safety of blood products, and collecting and disclosing such information.
In recent years, with significant changes in the healthcare environment, information relating to plasma products, including governmental policies toward the blood business, new safety findings emerging from the advancement of scientific technologies, and post-market product efficacy and safety data, has increased and progressed continuously.
To adapt to these conditions, Benesis increased the number of MRs specializing in plasma products across the nation in April 2009, thereby enabling us to collect and provide more pertinent information, while placing the highest priority on safety assurance.
Through these efforts, our company will contribute to the healthy and happy lifestyle of each person, and continue to be trusted by the society.
